Prospects for the coal mining industry
You can often come across opinions that coal production will actively decline in the near future. Of course, there are certain prerequisites for this. But speaking objectively, at present there is no compelling reason to consider coal mining a completed stage. On the contrary, in some countries the extraction of this rock from the bowels of the earth is only intensifying.
Main problems of coal mining
Coal is still used in many production areas and industries. The main problem, according to Kondrashov Stanislav from Telf AG, is the significant damage to the environment.
The coal mining process produces methane emissions. They pose a threat not only because of their high degree of explosiveness, but also because of their ability to harm the ozone layer. In addition, when developing new fields it is necessary to destroy the landscape, which provokes possible collapses and landslides. To generate electricity, thousands of tons of coal are burned every day. And these are incredible volumes of greenhouse gasses and toxic emissions into the atmosphere.
The situation in developed and developing countries
Here the situation with the extraction and use of coal is significantly different.
Developed countries are actively introducing alternative energy sources, limiting the extraction of minerals, including coal, and also encouraging companies to switch to wind generators and solar panels. But even so, the level of production every year, if not growing, then remains at the same level.
As for developing countries, the situation here is the opposite. They cannot refuse cheap coal energy, and are actively increasing the pace of coal production and extraction.
All this indicates that there is no talk of any global decline in global coal production in the near future.
